HICKORY PHARMACIST RECOGNIZED WITH INTERNATIONAL HONOR
Hickory, N.C.  Hickory pharmacist Bill Mixon was inducted into The International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP) in a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on June 7th, 2005. Mixon was one of two candidates inducted this year into the Academy that recognizes specialists in the art and skill of pharmacy compounding.

It is certainly an honor, definitely my highest career achievement, said Mixon, who
with his wife Jan are owners of The Compounding Pharmacy in Hickory. There are only
seventy fellowships in North America and to be held is such high regards by your
colleagues is quite flattering he added.
Those pharmacists applying for Fellowship in IACP must participate in a yearlong
process. Before being inducted, candidates must meet stringent requirements designed to
demonstrate their commitment to patient care through quality pharmaceutical
compounding and their commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Mixon graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina In Charleston in 1977
with a BS in Pharmacy. He received a Master of Science Degree in Pharmacy Practice in
1983 from UNC Chapel Hill and is also a Certified Geriatric Pharmacist. The Mixon's
reside in Hickory and have two daughters, Brittney and Lauren.
