The Compounding Pharmacy is one of a few compounding-only pharmacies in the state. We have been in operation since November 1998. In November of 2006, we remodeled the pharmacy adding a new state-of-the-art clean room and a new hood room. In 2009 we have completed an extensive addition to our building providing medical care, consulting and examination rooms.
Much of our water heating needs is being provided by a new solar panel heating system. Our 'Clean rooms' are state of the art and represent our continuing commitment to our patients, our medical prescribers and to our community overall.
The Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB®) has conferred fully accredited status on The Compounding Pharmacy.

William Bill Mixon, Owner, RPh, MS, FIACPÂ  Bill Mixon is the pharmacist and owner of The Compounding Pharmacy, a nationally accredited pharmacy. He and his wife Jan opened The Compounding Pharmacy in 1998. Bill obtained his bachelor's degree in pharmacy from The Medical University of South Carolina in 1977, and in 1983 he received his Master of Science degree in pharmacy practice from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He is one of 68 pharmacists who have achieved Fellowship status with the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists.
He has completed two hospital pharmacy residencies, has been a Certified Diabetes Educator and a Certified Geriatric Pharmacist.
He and his wife Jan have two daughters at Appalachian State University in Boone. |
Jan Mixon, Owner, BSN, RN
 Jan Mixon is a nurse who specializes in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. She and her husband Bill Mixon, a pharmacist of 30 years, have operated The Compounding Pharmacy for over 9 years. She offers consultation services on the use of bio-identical hormones, by referral from health care providers, and encourages women to become very active members of their own health care team.
Her interest in the use of bio-identical hormones (hormones identical to the ones our own body makes) started over 15 years ago with her own quest for hormone balance.
Jan’s received her BS in Agriculture from the University of GA in 1977 followed by her BS in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in 1979. Then she began her career in emergency medicine as a trauma nurse for 18 years. Then she worked as an otolaryngology clinical nursing specialist at the University of Iowa Clinics doing investigational drug studies with children. Upon returning to North Carolina she held numerous positions from supervising home IV infusion, working with out patient chemotherapy patients, supervising a neurology clinic, and emergency medicine. |

Samantha Aaron Fox, CPhT
Samantha Aaron Fox has worked in the field of pharmacy for a total of 11 years. She has been at The Compounding Pharmacy for 9 years, 7 of those being the lab supervisor. She is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. She received her pharmacy technician certification in March 2002, and received the national honor of PCCA Technician of the Month in May 2003. Samantha is on the Catawba County Disaster Relief Board and the Strategic National Stockpile Board. She has taken many classes in veterinary compounding, therapeutics and anatomy, and is certified in sterile compounding. Samantha resides in Conover with her husband, Wesley, and their Papillon, Indy. |
Mark Williams, CPhT
Mark Williams has worked in the field of pharmacy for 20 years, 13 of
those years being in retail pharmacy. He worked for the VA hospital in
Asheville, NC for 7 years. Mark has been with The Compounding
Pharmacy for 2 years. He attended a Veterinary Symposium in June of
2007 at Columbus Zoo in Columbus, Ohio for continuing education of the
latest in veterinary medicine. He received his pharmacy technician
certification in 2006. He majored in Chemistry at University of North
Carolina at Asheville. He is married with two daughters and has a black
lab named Belle. Mark has been the youth leader for 6 years at his
church. |
Teresa Link, Receptionist
Teresa Link has been with The Compounding Pharmacy since
November of 2004. She is responsible for answering the phone, taking
care of customers and ordering supplements for the front lobby, among
many other things. She previously worked for CVS as a pharmacy
technician. She has been married for 27 years to Tommy Link and they
have two boys, Brandon and Ryan. They also have an 80-pound Boxer
named Lillie. |
